Academy of St. Elizabeth
Feminine hygiene products are considered luxury items that are out of reach for most of the students we serve. Girls who do not have these products often choose between attending school or taking some days off many missing weeks a year. Since 2018, through our partnership with St. Elizabeth, we have purchased pads locally for the students. Most recently in 2024, over 31,000 pads were distributed to girls at all 5 of our schools and to the Sisters.
Mission Madera thanks St. Elizabeth for prioritizing our girls and raising thousands for these efforts.
Our partners supply athletic gear, clothing, medical supplies, scholastic supplies, soccer balls, missionaries, and financial resources to 5 partner schools and LSOSF Community of the Eastern Region.

Oysters & Pearls
This US & Uganda based charity was founded by Sandra Washburn of Texas. Oysters & Pearls is an ongoing educational program primarily serving the blind with emphasis on teaching science, technology, engineering and math to students in Africa, primarily Uganda. They are also working with students on other educational curriculum such as wildlife, conservation and sports. They also advocate opportunities for women. Mission Madera was able to connect through them at the suggestion of one of the vendors for blind supplies who thought we could benefit from working together. We have enjoyed several joint projects whereby Oysters and Pearls has provided onsite teacher training as well as direct work with the students of Madera. O&P were instrumental in assisting with the installation and training of the JAWS program which opens the internet and computer world to blind or partially sighted students. Mission Madera looks forward to continuing our joint efforts at serving the vulnerable blind population in Uganda.
